Volunteers mount clean-up operation

Local MP Gideon Amos joined a community clean-up in the Priorswood area of Taunton on Saturday.
It was organised by Liam Pollard, who is standing for the Liberal Democrats in this Thursday’s Taunton Town Council by-election for the Lyngford seat.
The volunteers spent several hours collecting litter in Lyngford Park and outside the nearby shops complex.
Liam said afterwards: “I was really pleased that we had such a great turnout for the litter pick, including a number of residents of Lyngford and the wider area.
“As it was the first community action day I’ve organised, I was not sure what to expect, but we received some lovely feedback from passers-by.
“I will definitely be organising more community action days in the coming months. It’s super rewarding and brings people together.
Mr Amos, who held an informal drop-in surgery in Priorswood Community Centre afterwards, said: “I was delighted to go along and support Liam’s effort – thanks to everyone who helped as well.
“I am sure Liam is going to make an outstanding community champion, both for Lyngford and Taunton as a whole.”
