MP and Mayor get planting in Wellington

Local MP Gideon Amos and the Mayor of Wellington, Cllr Janet Lloyd, joined the tree planting effort in the town’s 'Green Corridor' at the weekend.
Wellington Town Council has entered into an ambitious agreement with the Woodland Trust.
It involves planting more than 3,000 trees in the 64 acres stretching from Tonedale to Rockwell Green – as part of the trust’s Woodland Creation Scheme.
Volunteers are taking part in regular planting sessions with the latest taking place in Great Meadow and Marsh Mead, just off Linden Drive.
Mr Amos said afterwards: “I was delighted to get involved in this wonderful community initiative.
“The Green Corridor is a beautiful area and it’s great to see all of the environmental work which is happening.
“If you can spare a few hours on a Saturday, I know the town council and Woodland Trust would be delighted to see you.”
There are two more planting days this month – on March 8th and 22nd.
