Gideon Amos 'privileged' to visit village school

Gideon Amos, the MP for Taunton and Wellington, enjoyed a visit to Hatch Beauchamp Primary School today (Friday).
He said afterwards: “It was an absolute privilege. The school has a uniquely caring and safe feeling as soon as you walk through the door.
“I was so impressed to hear from the Headteacher, Emma Johns, about how the school has started to grow in numbers again and the amount of one-to-one time the children receive – I saw this with my own eyes and it’s really impressive.
“It was also great to hear about the Special Educational Needs Centre being built at the school which is going to be a huge help for many local families. I’m working with other MPs in the House of Commons to try and get more funding for special needs education.
“Well done, also, to all the children for their interesting questions and fabulous World Book Day outfits.”
Mrs Johns said: "We were delighted to welcome Gideon Amos to our school. It was a wonderful opportunity for our students to meet him, showcase their work, and – as part of their Careers Week – learn more about his role.
“Gideon took the time to speak with our children, engage with their ideas, and show genuine interest in their learning experiences.
“It was good to be able to discuss proposals for a new unit to support children with additional needs as part of our school. This is being developed with support from our trust - The Academies for Character and Excellence - and Somerset County Council, and we believe this will significantly benefit our community.
“It's really encouraging to know our school is supported by individuals who care about providing the best opportunities for all our children."
